Day20

Post by admin »

You start on Monday with the idea implanted in your bosom that you are going to enjoy yourself. You wave an airy adieu to the boys on shore, light your biggest pipe, and swagger about the deck as if you were Captain Cook, Sir Francis Drake, and Christopher Columbus all rolled into one. On Tuesday, you wish you hadn't come. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, you wish you were dead. On Saturday, you are able to swallow a little beef tea, and to sit up on deck, and answer with a wan, sweet smile when kind-hearted people ask you how you feel now. On Sunday, you begin to walk about again, and take solid food. And on Monday morning, as, with your bag and umbrella in your hand, you stand by the gunwale, waiting to step ashore, you begin to thoroughly like it.

You start on Monday with the idea implanted in your bosom (Sales un lunes, con un pensamiento infundido en tu corazón = con confianza; to start — comienzo, iniciar; para comenzar un viaje; to implant — implante; instilar, empotrar; bosom — pecho; alma, corazón) that you are going to enjoy yourself (lo que disfrutarás = qué placer te espera; to enjoy — disfrutar, gozar). You wave an airy adieu to the boys on shore (le hace señas alegre adios = le hace señas a tus amigas en la orilla en la despedida; airy — aireado, ligero; contento; agraciado), light your biggest pipe ( enciende tu pipa más larga; big — grande, gran), and swagger about the deck as if you were Captain Cook (y pavonearse por la cubierta como si fueras el Capitán Cook; to swagger — caminar o comportarse de una manera muy confiada y típicamente arrogante, ser arrogante), Sir Francis Drake, and Christopher Columbus all rolled into one ( Sir Francis Drake y Cristóbal Colón en una sola persona: "arrollado todo en uno"; to roll — rodar, girar; rollo, enrollar). On Tuesday, you wish you hadn't come (El martes, desearías no haber venido = te arrepientes de haber ido al viaje). On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, you wish you were dead ( el miércoles, jueves y viernes desearías no haber nacido "desearías estar muerto"). On Saturday, you are able to swallow a little beef tea (el sábado puedes tragar un poco de caldo fuerte; beef — carne de vaca; tea — té; infusión, decocción fuerte o caldo), and to sit up on deck, and answer with a wan, sweet smile ( y sentarse en cubierta y responder con una sonrisa pálido y agradable; to sit up — siéntate, siéntate derecho; wan — pálido, doloroso, débil; sweet — dulce; agradable, bonito) when kind-hearted people ask you how you feel now ( cuando la gente de buen corazón te pregunta cómo te sientes). On Sunday, you begin to walk about again, and take solid food (el domingo empiezas a caminar de nuevo y a tomar alimentos sólidos; to walk about — caminar, pasear). And on Monday morning, as, with your bag and umbrella in your hand ( y el lunes por la mañana, cuando con maleta y paraguas en mano; bag — bolsa, valija; maleta), you stand by the gunwale, waiting to step ashore ( estás de pie junto a la barandilla, esperando = a punto de bajar a tierra; gunwale — borda /barandilla de un barco o baluarte/ ), you begin to thoroughly like it ( te empieza a gustar mucho /el viaje/; thoroughly — completamente, totalmente; con cuidado).

the website helps you to get right meaning
You start on Monday with the idea implanted in your bosom (вы отправляетесь в понедельник с мыслью, вселённой в ваше сердце = с уверенностью; to start — начинать/ся/; пускаться в путь; to implant — вживлять; внушать, внедрять; bosom — грудь, пазуха; душа, сердце) that you are going to enjoy yourself (что будете наслаждаться = что вас ждет удовольствие; to enjoy — получать удовольствие, наслаждаться). You wave an airy adieu to the boys on shore (вы машете веселое «прощай» = машете на прощание приятелям на берегу; airy — воздушный, легкий; веселый; грациозный), light your biggest pipe (зажигаете свою самую длинную трубку; big — большой, крупный), and swagger about the deck as if you were Captain Cook (и расхаживаете с важным видом по палубе, словно вы капитан Кук; to swagger — расхаживать с важным видом, важничать), Sir Francis Drake, and Christopher Columbus all rolled into one (сэр Фрэнсис Дрейк и Христофор Колумб в одном лице: «все свернутые в одно»; to roll — катить/ся/, вращать/ся/; свертывать/ся/, сворачивать/ся/). On Tuesday, you wish you hadn't come (во вторник вы желаете, /чтобы/ вы не поехали = жалеете, что поехали). On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, you wish you were dead (в среду, четверг и пятницу вы жалеете, что родились: «желаете, чтобы вы были мертвы»). On Saturday, you are able to swallow a little beef tea (в субботу вы в состоянии проглотить немного крепкого бульона; beef — говядина; tea — чай; настой, крепкий отвар или бульон), and to sit up on deck, and answer with a wan, sweet smile (и сидеть на палубе, и отвечать с бледной, приятной улыбкой; to sit up — садиться, сидеть прямо; wan — бледный, болезненный, слабый; sweet — сладкий; приятный, милый) when kind-hearted people ask you how you feel now (когда добросердечные люди спрашивают, как вы себя чувствуете). On Sunday, you begin to walk about again, and take solid food (в воскресенье вы снова начинаете прогуливаться и принимать твердую пищу; to walk about — прогуливаться, расхаживать). And on Monday morning, as, with your bag and umbrella in your hand (а в понедельник утром, когда с чемоданом и зонтиком в руке; bag — сумка, мешок; чемодан), you stand by the gunwale, waiting to step ashore (вы стоите у перил, ожидая = собираясь сойти на берег; gunwale — планширь /перила поверх судового леерного ограждения или фальшборта/), you begin to thoroughly like it (вам начинает действительно нравиться /поездка/; thoroughly — полностью, совершенно; тщательно).
